NYS 5-Hour Pre-Licensing Course - Spring/Summer 2020

The Pre-Licensing Course is mandated by the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles and is a pre-requisite to obtaining your road test appointment. Basic driving rules and safety issues will be addressed. Instruction is under the direction of Lynn Fuchs, former president of the NYS Driving School Association and a multi-award winner. Lynn Fuchs has been well-respected in her field as a traffic safety and driving education specialist for over 36 years and is founder and president of A Woman’s Way Driving School (7 West Valley Stream Boulevard, Valley Stream, NY 11580 and 498 Glen St., Glens Falls, NY 12801).

Please arrive 15 minutes early; You MUST bring your valid NYS Photo Learner’s Permit to class; Temporary (Paper) Permits are no longer allowed as valid documentation.This 5-Hour Pre-Licensing Course is mandated by the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles and is a pre-requisite to obtaining your road test appointment. Basic driving rules and safety issues will be addressed.

With Advance Registration, you are GUARANTEED a seat in the class!  THIS IS A NON-REFUNDABLE COURSE/PROGRAM FEE.

Please arrive 15 minutes early (@ 3:45 pm). The class starts promptly at 4:00 p.m. - No Entry after that time. 

You MUST present a current and valid NYS Photo Learner’s Permit or a valid interim permit with a NYS Government-issued ID card (such as a Non-Driver ID Card, Expired NY Photo Permit, and/or Expired NY Photo License) to the instructor at the pre-licensing course.

COVID19 REQUIREMENTS
  • All participants must wear face masks and provide their own
  • Participants should take their temperature before leaving for the program. If a participant’s temperature reads 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit or higher, they will be disallowed from participation in the program.
  • All participants will be socially distanced
  • Upon entry to the program, participants will have their temperature (non-touch) taken and a brief COVID-19 assessment completed
  • Participants will use hand sanitizer at entry/exit points and throughout the program, as needed
  • Only registered participants will be allowed to enter the programming areas.

General Information
  • You MUST bring your valid NYS Photo Learner’s Permit to class (place in designated container)
  • Note: Please arrive 15 minutes early to fill-out course paperwork. You are welcome to bring a snack and a drink.
  • NO WALK-INS PERMITTED.
  • Anyone interested in participating MUST pre-register and pay program fee in advance on-line or at the Department Office.
  • Sign up today! limited seating!

  • IF the class you want is FULL and you are placed on a WAIT LIST (no fee is charged), please complete the registration process all the way thru the payment portion; that is how you will be placed on the WAIT LIST. Also, it is best to sign up for the next dated class, as they will FILL UP WELL BEFORE you would expect and you want to make sure you have a seat in the class. If an opening should occur and you are called, we can transfer the money to the Wait Listed class you were called about.......if you are not clear with this information, give the department a call for further explanation.
