NYS 5-Hour Pre-Licensing Course - Fall/Winter 2020/2021

as of TODAY...AT THIS TIME, ALL NYS PRE-LICENSING COURSES ARE BEING CONDUCTED ON-LINE OVER THE INTERNET VIA THE ZOOM PLATFORM.  ONCE THE GOVERNOR SAYS WE CAN GO BACK TO IN-PERSON CLASSROOM, WE WILL THEN DETERMINE THE DIRECTION WE WILL TAKE.

Please arrive 15 minutes early; You MUST bring your valid NYS Photo Learner’s Permit to class; Temporary (Paper) Permits are no longer allowed as valid documentation.This 5-Hour Pre-Licensing Course is mandated by the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles and is a pre-requisite to obtaining your road test appointment. Basic driving rules and safety issues will be addressed.

With Advance Registration, you are GUARANTEED a seat in the class!  THIS IS A NON-REFUNDABLE COURSE/PROGRAM FEE.

Please arrive 15 minutes early (@ 3:45 pm). The class starts promptly at 4:00 p.m. - No Entry after that time. 

You MUST present a current and valid NYS Photo Learner’s Permit or a valid interim permit with a NYS Government-issued ID card (such as a Non-Driver ID Card, Expired NY Photo Permit, and/or Expired NY Photo License) to the instructor at the pre-licensing course.

COVID REQUIREMENTS
  • All participants must wear face masks and provide their own
  • Participants should take their temperature before leaving for the program. If a participant’s temperature reads 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit or higher, they will be disallowed from participation in the program.
  • All participants will be socially distanced
  • Upon entry to the program, participants will have their temperature (non-touch) taken and a brief COVID-19 assessment completed
  • Participants will use hand sanitizer at entry/exit points and throughout the program, as needed
  • Only registered participants will be allowed to enter the programming areas.

General Information
  • ****At this time, (12/1/20) we are running virtual classes via Zoom. We are hoping by the time we get to this class we will be back in the classroom. We will give more of an update as we get closer to the date of the class.
  • You MUST bring your valid NYS Photo Learner’s Permit to class
  • Note: Please arrive 15 minutes early to fill-out course paperwork. You are welcome to bring a snack and a drink.
  • NO WALK-INS PERMITTED.
  • Anyone interested in participating MUST pre-register and pay program fee in advance on-line or at the Department Office.

  • ****IF the class you want is FULL and you are placed on a WAIT LIST (no fee charged), please complete the registration process all the way thru the payment portion; that is how you will be placed on the WAIT LIST. ALSO, it is best to sign up for the next dated class, as they will FILL UP WELL BEFORE you would expect and you want to make sure you have a seat in the class. If an opening should occur and you are called, we can transfer the money to the Wait Listed class you were called about.......if you are not clear with this information, give the department a call for further explanation.

ADDITIONAL REGISTRATION INFORMATION
  • On the Monday prior to your registered class, an email will be sent to the email address on file in our system regarding the Zoom information for Fridays' class. If you have not found the email in your inbox, please check your "Dump/Junk Box" for this. If not found, please call the office (518-761-8216) to have a copy forwarded to you. This email is very important, as you need to "reply back" that it has been received.
  • Please be prepared and logged in on Zoom prior to the 4:00 pm start.
